  • Rigel Terahertz Spectrometer The TeTechS RigelTM terahertz spectrometer is an innovative, easy to use, and high performance instrument based on terahertz technology customized for quality control and laboratory test and inspection applications. With no or little sample preparation required, the unknown specimen is placed in the terahertz beam path of the Rigel. The terahertz waveform passes through the specimen and the spectrometer records the difference in the energy of the received versus the transmitted terahertz waveform. The specific absorption signature of the specimen is determined and compared to a database of known materials. The unknown specimen is characterized and identified. Fast and simple characterization of various samples is now available. Because the terahertz waveform passes through the sample, laminate constructions or multilayer structures can also be characterized and identified. The Rigel provides effective analysis of other organics, such as pulp and paper based materials, with and without specialty coatings. Having a Rigel spectrometer in the laboratory or the plant floor will give added analytical resources to better understand what is being processed in the facility.
