  • National Research and Education Network CANARIE operates and evolves Canada’s national ultra-high-speed fibre-optic network for research, education and innovation. Twelve provincial and territorial network partners, together with CANARIE, collectively form Canada’s National Research and Education Network (NREN). This powerful digital infrastructure connects Canadians to national and global data, tools, colleagues, and classrooms that fuel the engine of innovation in today’s digital economy. CANARIE provides interprovincial and international connectivity to peer research and education networks in more than 100 countries.

  • Research Software CANARIE’s Research Software Program invests in and supports two types of projects: Research Software Platforms and Research Software Services. Platforms are software for research within a specific discipline. Research Services are software components of Platforms that perform specific data management functions (i.e. storage, visualization, transfer, retrieval, etc.) that can be re-used to benefit any research Platform, regardless of discipline. CANARIE’s full suite of powerful Software Services is available at no cost to the worldwide scientific research community at https://science.canarie.ca.

  • Cloud Technology CANARIE’s DAIR (Digital Accelerator for Innovation and Research) program provides Canadian entrepreneurs with free cloud-based compute and storage resources that help speed time to market by enabling rapid and scalable product design, prototyping, validation and demonstration. DAIR is designed to encourage Canada’s entrepreneurs to benefit from the scale, speed and agility of cloud technologies to transform their business processes and sharpen their competitive edge.

  • Identity Management CANARIE’s Canadian Access Federation (CAF) service is a trusted identity management environment to support the Canadian research and education community. CAF services today include eduroam and Federated Single Sign-On. Eduroam enables seamless WiFi access to users at participating academic institutions worldwide. Federated Single Sign-on (SSO) allows users to securely and seamlessly access digital content and services offered by their home institution and through institutions across Canada participating in CAF. Internationally, users can access a global list of services through CANARIE’s participation with eduGAIN, a global federation of more than 30 countries.
