Company Profile

The Company designs, manufactures and distributes a full range of leading edge test equipment used in the verification of backplanes, connectors, electrical wiring, cabling systems, and complex interconnection products. CableTest equipment is capable of providing both low voltage and high voltage tests. Low voltage tests ensure the static reliability of the wiring harness, whereas a high voltage (HIPOT) test checks the long-term reliability by testing for leakage and breakdown. CableTest's Sales Engineers have extensive expertise in the Test and Measurement field, and are available to discuss specific applications, custom tailored to solve even the most complex problems. The Company currently offers two standard wiring analyzers. The wiring analyzers are microprocessor-based and contain an easy-to-use interface, software algorithms and communication software. To support each unique wire harness, CableTest develops a customized cable interface module. The Company products are used in a multitude of diverse applications, ranging from simple wire harnesses, to testing the entire functional operation of space shuttle booster rocket.   • Horizon-II Harness Tester The Horizon's portability, simplicity and reliability have earned it international recognition throughout the automotive, aerospace, computing, medical, military, telecom and transportation sectors. Horizon wiring analyzers test everything from simple data cables to complex wiring harnesses. Typical applications range from functionality testing of SCSI terminators and computer network switch-hubs to the field analysis of wiring assemblies in military aircraft. The Horizon offers an unrivalled diversity of test scenarios in a portable wiring analyzer. Its touch-screen control makes it exceptionally easy to program and test. Standard test capability includes fault location and automatic product learning. All models enable 128-point testing with modular expansion capability up to 1024 points plus high current and HiPot testing capability up to 1500 VDC and/or 1067 VAC. Horizon software enables error-free product assembly with its Build-Aid tool, powerful program development using TCL scripting and virtually unlimited test storage capabilities with a built-in hard disk.   • MPT Wiring Analyzer MPT Series Wiring Analyzers use computer controlled, state-of-the-art switching architecture to evaluate the functionality of complex electrical wiring systems. Key features include: • Up to 100,000 test points • Up to 5000VDC/6000VAC • Up to 5A/96V programmable source • MASS HiPot Algorithm • Windows-based programming • Easy to use The MPT’s switching architecture creates a powerful combination of high output current and measurement accuracy with virtually unlimited expansion capability, mixed high and low voltage energization, floating ground testing, fault location and extremely fast test-cycle times. One of the smallest footprints in the industry, each system is fully transportable and ideal for complex interconnection testing.

  • DHV Wiring Analyzer The MPT-DHV distributed high voltage system was designed specifically for the aerospace and transportation industry for testing aircraft, rocket, satellite and train wiring systems where HiPot testing at remote locations is required. Any MPT-based wiring analyzer can be distributed through multiple remote test units reducing the need for long adapter cables. Key features include: • Up to 30,000 test points • Up to 5000VDC/6000VAC HiPot testing • Up to 5A/96V energization The MPT-DHV switching architecture creates a powerful combination of high output current and measurement accuracy with virtually unlimited expansion capability, mixed high and low voltage energization, floating ground testing, fault location and extremely fast test-cycle times.

  • MPT-SCAN Open Capture Test System The MPT-SCAN was designed specifically to detect micro-opens in wired assemblies during environmental stress testing. The MPT-SCAN enables continuous and simultaneous monitoring of all points in the Product Under Test while subjected to vibration and thermal cycling. The MPT-SCAN system will detect, record and display all intermittent micro-opens as they occur during environmental testing with a scan rate of at least 100,000 samples per second. Key features include: • 150 test point increments • 12VDC high speed continuity tests • 1mSec flex test, open/short • Scan rate/point of at least 100,000 times per second (10µSec open capture) Applications include testing of mission-critical interconnect systems that are exposed to environmental stresses during normal operation such as military connectors, missile control panels and aircraft power distribution centers.

  • MPT Backplane Tester The MPT Backplane Tester uses distributed switching cards for testing backplanes up to and exceeding 100,000 points. Each distributed switching card contains either 64 or 256 points of electronic switching. Key features include: (1) Extremely fast test speeds of up to 3,000 continuity scans per second. (2) Mixed high and low voltage energization for selective HiPot and low voltage testing of power and ground circuits in backplanes. (3) Custom Designed Paddle Cards adapt the MPT to the backplane under test.
